Inventory Organization Before Reset

These photos document the condition of the Hub inventory before it was restored to warehouse maintenance standards. Hoses, radiator hoses, hood lift supports, belts, cables, and other unrelated parts were intermixed, overcrowded, and frequently stored outside their designated locations. As a result, inventory could not be accurately counted or maintained, and parts were often missing from their scanned locations.

Parts Sales personnel frequently spent extended periods searching for inventory in the back room, increasing customer wait times and reducing productivity. Extended time away from the sales counter also reduced store floor coverage, limiting opportunities to assist customers and increasing the risk of inventory loss through theft. The department was subsequently reorganized and standardized to improve inventory accuracy, part protection, stocking efficiency, and retrieval speed while supporting more consistent customer service and loss prevention.

Inventory Organization After Reset

These photos show the Hub department after I reset the Hub inventory. Parts were reorganized by product type, size, and assigned storage location to improve accessibility and retrieval. Inventory was standardized so each location held the appropriate quantity without overcrowding, while longer items were repositioned to prevent overhangs and accidental displacement. This improved inventory accuracy, simplified cycle counts, and ensured parts remained in their scanned locations for efficient retrieval by Parts Sales.

Why It Matters

This project demonstrates my approach to process improvement. Rather than simply reorganizing inventory, I restored the department to company standards by implementing a structured inventory management system. The result was improved sales, reduced shrink, inventory accuracy, faster part retrieval, reduced customer wait times, better sales floor coverage, and a department that could be consistently maintained through standardized procedures.
