Technology has been the foundation of my career for more than three decades, but my experience extends well beyond traditional IT. I’ve worked in retail management, business operations, digital marketing, systems administration, web development, and technical support, giving me a well-rounded understanding of how organizations operate from both the business and technology perspectives.
One of the greatest strengths I’ve developed throughout my career is understanding both the operational and technical sides of a business. My experience in retail management, inventory control, warehouse operations, merchandising, and business processes has given me firsthand knowledge of how products move through an organization—from receiving and inventory control to merchandising and point-of-sale systems.
I’ve learned that the success of a business system isn’t measured by how elegant the code is, it’s measured by whether it helps the people using it perform their jobs more accurately and efficiently.
That operational experience has shaped the way I approach technology. Software, databases, and business systems should support the people who rely on them every day. Having worked in those operational roles myself, I understand the real-world challenges employees face and how technology can either streamline their work or create unnecessary obstacles. I believe effective technical solutions come from understanding the business first and then designing systems that support the way people actually work.
Professional Experience
Throughout my career I’ve worked in retail, e-commerce, web hosting, and technology roles where I gained hands-on experience with business operations, inventory management, merchandising, warehouse logistics, customer service, technical support, website administration, and systems management.
I’ve seen firsthand that even technically sophisticated systems can fall short when they aren’t designed with a thorough understanding of day-to-day business operations. That experience has reinforced my belief that successful technology solutions require collaboration between technical professionals and the people who perform the work every day.
Working for companies such as Pep Boys, AutoZone, Home Depot, Meijer, InMotion Hosting, and web agencies has given me experience supporting both brick-and-mortar operations and the technology that powers modern businesses. Whether improving inventory processes, supporting customers, managing infrastructure, or solving technical problems, I’ve always enjoyed finding practical ways to improve efficiency and reliability.
Independent Consulting
In addition to my employment, I founded Absolute Web Development, where I’ve designed, developed, and maintained websites for businesses and organizations. Through freelance work I’ve managed WordPress websites, e-commerce stores, SEO, digital marketing, content creation, hosting environments, and ongoing technical support.
Running my own business taught me the importance of balancing technical decisions with customer service, communication, project management, and business objectives.
Home Lab & Continuous Learning
Technology never stands still, and neither do I.
My home lab serves as both a learning environment and a testing platform where I build and manage Linux servers, storage systems, networking infrastructure, AI workstations, automation tools, virtualization environments, and self-hosted services.
Many of the technologies showcased throughout this portfolio were first researched, implemented, and refined in my lab before becoming practical skills I could apply professionally. I enjoy learning emerging technologies because understanding how they work today helps me solve tomorrow’s challenges.
Education
I earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Riverside Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from California State University, San Bernardino. I also completed certificates in PC Publishing and Web Master technologies.
That combination of business, marketing, and technology has shaped the way I approach every project, considering not only how a solution works technically, but how it supports the goals of the organization using it.
